Northern Liberties

The Piazza is located in the Northern Liberties (No Libs) neighborhood of Philadelphia. In recent years, No Libs has become a major enclave of young professionals, students, artists, entrepreneurs and design professionals. Large improvement and revitalization projects undertaken in recent years have made it one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city. Its proximity to Center City and all forms of public transportation position the Commons as one of the city’s most livable and commutable areas. Given its walkable design, top-notch bars and authentic, international restaurants, NoLibs is easily one of Philly’s best destinations for shopping, dining, and entertainment. NoLibs has always been home to a left-of-center retail lineup, a personality that has persisted throughout its evolution from up-and-comer to Philly frontrunner. The neighborhood’s artistic daredevilry, meanwhile, has been bolstered by exciting real estate opportunities for gallery owners.

Located directly across the street from the Piazza, Liberties Walk is an extension of the mixed-use live/work/play community with a small village vibe that consists of 72 residential walk up apartments, 30 first floor commercial and retail units, and 19 townhouses. Here you’ll find Suppa, brainchild of Philadelphia chef and Food Network’s “Chopped” champion Georgeann Leaming, among other top-rated restaurants. Underneath the twinkle of string lights and sprinkled between eateries are both local and national retailers and creative office tenants. Liberties Walk is the local go-to destination for yoga, doggy daycare, and other neighborhood amenities.

2nd Street

Home to the annual 2nd Street Festival in August, this burgeoning strip of retail, restaurants, and recreation brings a vibrant and eclectic vibe to the neighborhood. Visit the nostalgic ambience of North Bowl, stroll to the urban garden and jazz bar at Heritage, and balance your mind and body at Sculpere’s innovative yoga-ballet studio. 2nd Street is intimately tied to the Piazza, directly adjacent to the plaza and Liberties Walk.

Just up Front Street is Fishtown, a neighborhood that has witnessed enormous cultural resurgence in recent years. Frankford Avenue in Fishtown is home to the first La Colombe coffee shop, as well as music venues, neighborhood pubs, and an eclectic mix of clothing and dining storefronts. Though Fishtown is a short walk away from the Piazza, it is off the grid from larger Philadelphia, giving its streets a walkable, local vibe and plenty of open space.
